I do agree that the OGL helped the sofnpifs. I do not think that it necessarily helped D&D. They closed the license on the next edition. Pathfinder and other True20 systems are in their own right separate from D&D. That seemed to be the appeal for other gamers. I know that table top gaming will live on but if D&D falls off the market, that will be a loss.
